Preserved together in a fragrant brine of vinegar, horseradish, mustard seeds, peppercorns, sugar and salt, this pickled is sweet, tangy and full of crunch. Each bite offers the perfect balance of vegetables and spice, making it a delicious companion to hearty Romanian meals, grilled meats or rustic sandwiches.
What makes this pickle extra special is the type of pepper... These heirloom peppers, a prized variety of Capsicum annum, are large, sweet and fleshy with a distinctive rounded, flattened shape and a deep burgundy red colour. Grown in central and eastern Romania for over a century, gogoșari are cherished for their juice, thick pulp and natural sweetness, which make them ideal for pickling.
