Harvested by bees, bee bread (also known as Ambrosia - food of the Gods) is a fermented mixture of pollen, bee nectar & honey which bees mould into granules & store in their honeycombs. Bee bread ranks at the top of the superfood charts due to containing a number of essential minerals, proteins, amino acids, fatty acids, coenzymes, carbohydrates & basic vitamins.
Flavour wise it has the perfect balance of sweet & sour with a tangy, nutty aftertaste. Our bee bread is 100% natural, unprocessed, raw and organic.
Bee pollen is already extremely nutritious, containing a multitude of amino acids and vitamins however, bees then increase the nutritional benefits of the pollen by turning into bee bread...
They store the pollen in empty honeycomb cells, mix it with nectar and seal the cell with honey. The pollen is then left to ferment in the cell, it takes around 90 days to become a bee bread. This process makes the pollen more stable, preventing it from going off but also makes the nutrients 4 times as bio-available as in pollen and ready for absorption by the body - making it very health beneficial for both bees AND people!
Bee bread can be consumed daily. It is suitable for both children and adults. The usual recommended does is 1 teaspoon a day, preferable in the morning after breakfast.
