Rosehip Jam - No Added Sugar 230g

A take on a traditional rosehip jam with absolutely no added sugar! Made simply from rosehips, water & lemon juice but extremely delicious. Rosehip jam is considered somewhat a delicacy and is relatively rare to find. In Transylvania rosehips are in abundance and making them into jam is a tradition. This orange berry like pod is the fruit of the rose plant and they are typically gathered in October. The preparation of this fruit is not easy but the taste more than makes up for the effort.

Transylvania, in fact hosts a festival every October in celebration of the rosehip in the village of Sancraiu. When you arrive you are welcomed with rosehip jam cookies and during the festival there is a rosehip jam making competition. The making goes on for several hours, whilst a brass band play in the village and children perform traditional dances. Rosehip jam as well as the traditional moonshine like drink 'Palinka' is for sale at stalls.

The medicinal plants and fruits that are used as ingredients for the products made by Măgură Monastery are collected from the spontaneous flora of the surroundings of the monastery, in the area of ​​the Cindrel Mountains or are grown in the monastery's herb garden. The entire process, from picking, drying, shredding, preparation, packaging and labelling, is done by hand. Their recipes are their own and are based on old traditional and monastic remedies. The preparation processes aim to preserve the natural properties of the plants and fruits used.
