Description
A rare, exquisite honey produced by honeybees that collect the sweet honeydew from fir trees in the pristine forests of Transylvania. The result is a dark, amber honey, which is intensely aromatic with a robust, resinous flavour that carries the deep, earthy notes of the ancient fir forests. You may also notice subtle hints of caramel, malt or even smokiness, contributing to its sophisticated character.
Unlike floral honeys, honeydew honey is known for its higher mineral content and antioxidant properties, making it not only a delightful treat but also a nourishing superfood. Due to its deep, complex flavour this honey is perfect to enjoy straight from the spoon for a quick energy boost or pair it with aged cheeses such as Manchego or Gouda, where its earthy notes will complement the nutty, savoury flavours of the cheeses.
This honey is from the Apuseni mountains and is a certified mountain product. It is produced by beekeeper Mihai Grama, who is one of the most well known beekeepers in Romania. This is firstly due to the quality of his honey and secondly due to his determination to promote Romanian mountain products. He has over 170 bee families in the Gilău area of Apuseni and is one of the founding members of the 'Mountain Product Association'.
100% natural, cold extracted honey, that is unpasteurised, untreated and unheated free from additives to preserve all natural enzymes, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.
Please be aware that honey crystallises over time due to its high sugar content, this is nothing to worry about, in fact it's a sign of a natural, unprocessed product as only pure honey does this. If you wish to melt the crystals simply place in a bowl of warm water.
