These sweet, juicy pickled peppers, made by hand near the Apuseni mountains, are the perfect addition to any pantry shelves. They are a must have for any BBQ or picnic and pair perfectly with grilled meats, fish, cheeses and salads.
But what make this pickle extra special is the type of pepper! These heirloom red peppers known as 'gogosari' in Romania are a type of Capsicum Annuum. It is a large, sweet, fleshy pepper with a flattened rounded shape and is burgundy red in colour. This variety has been grown in central, Eastern Romania for around a century, they are highly prized for their sweet taste and juicy pulp which is thicker and crispier than other varieties. They are used in many traditional recipes, such as stuffed peppers and 'zacusca' the vegetable spread, but they really do make the PERFECT pickled peppers!
