Description
This deliciously tangy, pickled cabbage salad is a firm favourite in Romania, it contains cabbage, carrots, peppers and onions and is perfectly peppered with a touch of horseradish. The ideal accompaniment to a warm bowl of soft polenta, a toasted cheese sandwich or a delicious sharing platter of cured meats and cheeses. Bursting with flavour and well balanced the salad is slightly sweet yet slightly spicy, letting us enjoy these wonderful vegetables all year round.
Traditionally in Romania, when the Autumn begins jars & barrels are filled with peppers, cucumbers, cauliflower, cabbage, grapes, watermelon, green tomatoes and many more. These delights are pickled or fermented for the harsh winter months. The colourful jars that line the shelves of pantries become delicious accompaniments to everyday meals.
