WHO IS VARGA MEZES?
Varga Mezes are a traditional producer of 'Turtă Dulce' Romanian gingerbead. Their authentic, gingerbread products are shaped and decorated by hand, made with honey and spiced with cloves and cinnamon. They are baked in the traditional way - in a wood fired oven, which gives these light, fluffy biscuits that special taste!
WHERE ARE THEY?
Varga Mezes is located in Odorheiu Secuiesc in Harghita County, Transylvania, Romania, a region where turtă dulce are famously made. It is one of the historical centres of Szekerly Land and here lie the valleys and hills of the Eastern Carpathian mountains. In this region and many other areas of Romanian, gingerbread is seen as a gift that can express affection and good wishes for loved ones.

The delicious range of gingerbreads that Varga Mezes produce include vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, chocolate & coconut and an original turtă dulce. The products are made only with natural ingredients and contain absolutely no artificial preservatives. Gingerbreads are traditionally often decorated with symbols that mean wishes of happiness, well-being, wealth and long life, they are often given as gifts during the festive Easter & Christmas periods.
